Tama is where the Shinsengumi were
founded. I saw their flag in a historical TV drama a year or two ago--we do not
yet have it on FOTW. It was horizontally divided dark plum red and white with a
serrated border, like the flag of Qatar, and with a large golden character on
the red part--I think it was said to mean "Integrity"

Shinsengumi joined the Tokugawa Shogunate Forces to fight against the New
Government Forces during Boshin Civil War.
